Who’s Number One?  Social Media You Should Be Using.

Do you believe the saying, “The internet is forever”? Can we be forgotten? I am here to tell you that you will be ignored and overlooked if you don’t actively try to stay engaged as an individual and as a business, even if a record of all that you do stays online.

Nowadays, we need to communicate and reach our audience, fans, or customers, whether for writing like mine or any business that uses online resources. Social media is more than just a marketing tool in the digital landscape—it’s necessary, especially for authors and entrepreneurs who must navigate constantly changing algorithms to reach their target audiences.

Recent updates from Google have made websites like my own, writtingfantisy.com, nearly impossible to find through Google search due to aggressive auto-correction and ranking changes. While my website still ranks top in search engines like Bing, Firefox, and Yahoo, Google’s algorithm shifts have highlighted the importance of building a strong presence on social media.

Platforms like Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Youtube, Discord, Twitch, and many more offer a vital workaround to these search engine challenges, providing a direct path to connect with audiences and grow organically within their platforms. That doesn’t mean you should neglect your main website, either. But with so many platforms, how do you know which will deliver the best results?

You can research your target audience and what group would fit you best, or you could choose the current Powerhouse of Facebook rated at the Highest, but for me, the answer is Instagram. One of Facebook’s subsidiaries is my social media of choice.

The wonders of Instagram

Instagram is one of the most powerful social media platforms for businesses today, and here’s why.

Instagram is a visual-first platform; let’s be honest — people are drawn to stunning visuals. Whether it’s eye-catching graphics, beautiful product shots, or engaging videos, Instagram allows businesses to tell their stories authentically and personally. This visual storytelling is especially compelling for brands looking to connect with their audience more deeply.

2. High Engagement Rates

Instagram boasts some of the highest engagement rates compared to other social media platforms. People aren’t just scrolling; they like, comment, share, and save posts. This level of interaction allows businesses to build relationships with their audience and turn followers into loyal customers.

3. Diverse Content Formats

Instagram isn’t just about photos anymore. With features like Stories, Reels, IGTV, and carousels, there are countless ways to share content. Reels, for instance, are perfect for short, engaging videos that can go viral. Stories offer a more casual, behind-the-scenes look at your brand. This diversity allows businesses to get creative and reach audiences in multiple ways.

4. Direct Access to Your Audience

One of Instagram’s most significant advantages is its ability to create direct communication between brands and customers. Features like DMs, polls, and interactive stickers in Stories make gathering feedback, answering questions, and building a community easy. This two-way communication is essential for fostering trust and loyalty.

5. Shopping Features That Drive Sales

Instagram has become a powerful e-commerce tool with features like Instagram Shopping, product tags, and in-app checkout. These tools make it seamless for users to go from browsing to buying without leaving the app. For businesses, this means reducing friction in the customer journey and increasing sales.

6. Influencer Marketing Opportunities

Instagram is the hub for influencer marketing. Collaborating with influencers allows brands to tap into established communities and gain credibility. Whether through sponsored posts or authentic partnerships, influencer marketing on Instagram can significantly boost brand awareness and sales.

7. Insights and Analytics

Instagram’s built-in analytics provide valuable insights into what’s working and what’s not. From tracking engagement rates to understanding your audience demographics, these tools help businesses refine their strategies and maximize their impact.

Powerhouses gaining traction TikTok and YouTube

I want to talk about two other social media platforms: YouTube and TikTok. These platforms are powerhouses that can help your business.

But I am here to caution you about using these platforms as your main source for posting your content.

Due to national security concerns, TikTok is facing a potential ban in the U.S., with a looming deadline for ByteDance to divest its ownership. This uncertainty could impact TikTok’s 170 million American users and make it a risky platform for brands to invest in.

YouTube, on the other hand, remains a powerhouse for long-form video content. Still, it doesn’t offer the same seamless integration of shopping features and influencer marketing opportunities that Instagram does. YouTube Shorts has gained popularity, but Instagram Reels already has a massive user base and integrates better with e-commerce tools.

Instagram’s stability, diverse content formats, and direct consumer access give it a competitive edge over TikTok and YouTube. With features supporting community engagement and sales conversion, Instagram is the most reliable and effective platform for businesses looking to grow.
