My first Mockup Photoshoot. Behind the scenes.
First off, I must say that having something planned out and scheduled with people and everything in order can come crashing down. For me, this happened this week as I have gone to many weddings as a caterer and was going to do a photoshoot mockup of the couple’s preceding wedding pictures that would be shown at the reception. Sadly life got in the way as family and housing issues got in the way with my work schedule, so always have a backup ready or a workaround for rescheduling so that you can keep your timetable fluently on track.
As for me, I wasn’t able to and had to come up with a second plan that would fall under the allocated project parameters. I decided to shoot a commercial instead of a product I liked on the fly. I asked around and found someone willing to help. I next had to find a new location that would look nice enough to seem professional but casual enough for the product at hand. Next, I looked up simple photoshoots of older commercials, along with remembering the one that I catered at and what was done. Finally, I had to go out and buy the props. It was simple, and didn’t need to worry about the budget, but that is rarely the case.
Next, I had to position the model with the product and tell them what actions and facial features he made. It can be a matter of patience when working with people, and you can show them what you have envisioned. After that, I adjusted the artificial lighting from the lamps and other light sources. I continued to use the camera that I had on hand, which was my cellphone.
It is a reminder that as you make and produce your photoshoot, you want to remember the story that you or your client wants to be portrayed to the audience. You need to have your message and story before the viewer to see and understand. If you can craft the narrative, you want great, but always remember we must not get strung up on perfection and look ahead at what can be done at the moment.
